I've had a new pair of glasses that I've been wearing for the past week or so and it seems like they are causing headaches due to the way they sit on my nose. After a few hours of wearing them, it feels like the muscles around my eyes are tensed up even if they don't and my head just has a feeling of tension. It is almost like all the weight of the glasses alone is being distributed on my nose and not my ears at all, because if I physically lift them with my hand (but still look through them), it instantly feels better. Has anyone had anything similar happen that could recommend a remedy? 1/17/2008 9:18:00 AM |

Well ask your eye doctor if they have larger nose pads they can replace them with. They will often replace these pads for free if you bought the glasses through them or if you regularly do business with them.
I'd guess you could push the pads farther apart until the bridge holding the glasses together rests more on your nose, but that's annoying because the glasses will slide down your face constantly.
I'd definitely check on the larger nose pads though. That's the only thing I can think of that might be a proper solution. 1/17/2008 9:21:52 AM |

Don't most places have a policy where if something like this happens you can trade them in for a different pair that fits better? Anything you do to the pair probably won't work as well as finding a different pair that works better for you. 1/17/2008 9:31:42 AM |

Go back where you bought them from. They can adjust the frame and change the nose pads for large soft ones. 1/17/2008 9:35:34 AM |

If you got them from Lenscrafters, take them back and exchange them. It's their policy. 1/17/2008 10:51:06 AM |

I had this same exact problem. I only wear my glasses at night, so i feel for you if you have to deal with it all day.
What I discovered is that the posts were too short. I got them from lens crafters, after I already had a previous pair from there. The old pair had the correct length posts, the new pair had shorter ones. Idiots, isn't that the reason there are computers? Anyway, I switched out the new short posts for the older longer ones, and it solved my problem.
Take them back and see if that works. Good luck. 1/17/2008 1:27:03 PM |

By posts do you mean the little bits of metal holding on the nose pad things or the actual pads themselves? I have an old pair of sunglasses that has pretty long nose pads, when I get home I'm gonna try switching them out and see how it feels. 1/17/2008 2:47:30 PM |

sorry. The posts are the long parts that go along the side of your head, and tuck behind your ears. They come in different lengths. For a while I thought it was the nose pad things, but it turned out to be the posts.
