I recently got the classic 160 gb ipod and have been having problems with it ever since I put a shit load of music on it.
Had about 130 gb on there and it was really slow and unresponsive to the point that it would freeze up after playing half of a song. The ipod tech dude erased all my music and put 20 songs on there and magically it was responsive again.
I put back about 70 gb of music and its becoming sluggish and freezing up on me again. This time not as quickly as the first but it is freezing up none-the-less.
Anyone else having problems like this?
Was curious if these new 160 gb ipods cant handle that much music.

I had my iPod get really slow and it turned out it had something like 95% file fragmentation. I defragmented it and it ran much better afterwards. 1/19/2008 4:15:40 AM |

Assuming you're running Windows: hook it up, it will show up as a mass storage device under My Computer, right click on it, Properties, Tools, defragment. 1/19/2008 12:26:39 PM |

I had the 160gb ipod classic, just got it for Christmas and first thing i noticed when i got it was that it was incredibly sluggish. I had about 120+gb of music on it. I had my 21st bday party this weekend and someone stole it.
Cops are looking into this one. 2/19/2008 4:35:33 PM |

Disk Utility doesn't defragment.
The ipod shouldn't get fragmented though if you copy all the songs at once.2/19/2008 6:00:30 PM |
