Finally bought an ipod.......and almost anything over 50% volume breaks up like a bitch.
Anyone have suggestions for affordable replacements? 1/24/2008 6:21:01 PM |

I will only recommend Shure in-ear sound isolating headphones, but they aren't exactly affordable. 1/24/2008 6:22:36 PM |

no they aren't
although, i might be able to convince myself to buy the cheapest ones....assuming they're actually worth the ~$100

I've got a pair of their E4's, which I think is part of their old product line (they recently changed their style/model numbering). The equivalent would be the SE420, which means you could probably get an older model on eBay.
They are expensive, but have the best sound of any portable headphone/earbud I've ever heard or used. You should use that "economy stimulus" rebate check to buy you a pair 1/25/2008 7:49:07 AM |

i know this sounds weird but try out the premium zune headphones. i have both them and the shure e2cs. the e2cs are like $70 online the zunes are about half that. the shures have a better noise canceling and low end but the zunes are a good set for the $. 1/25/2008 8:19:12 AM |

Pretty much anything by sennheiser. Their stuff is available online for much less than msrp and tends to be really good value for your money. 1/25/2008 9:40:17 AM |

for the $40-50 range i like the sony in ear ones. they come w/ different size ear thingys like most do but they fit well, block out outside noises pretty good, and sound great. 1/25/2008 10:48:24 AM |

^^ True, but for one, I can barely hear the things since they don't fit in my ears well at all. If I got some of those inner ear bitches that sound nice, maybe I wouldn't have to turn it out to hear
And thanks for everyones suggestions 1/25/2008 11:32:00 AM |

they don't cancel noise. that in itself suggests some kind of reverse wave or white noise. what it does do is fit in your ears well enough to block most frequencies of noise out.1/26/2008 12:22:48 AM |
