I'm thinking of getting a second opinion on my heel. My original orthopedist said that I had a small fracture in my heel, and that in two weeks it would heal and I would be walking, running etc and able to make a PT test that I have on Feb 2.
So now its been a little under two weeks and I can't drive my car (manual), walk or sleep at night because of the pain and there is some pretty severe swelling still. I do have a follow up appointment on Wednesday but if I could see another doctor in that time, that would be awesome because getting healed is top priority.
I would rather find out I have 6 weeks of recovery from another doctor than have this doctor telling me it could be any day now. 1/25/2008 10:05:43 AM |

I can't recommend a particular orthopedist but I will recommend you get it checked out.
I had a similar issue several years ago -- rolled my ankle and thought it was just at bad sprain so I didn't go to the orthopedist for ~3 weeks. After I did, I found out my ligaments pulled off the tip of my leg bone, leading to all the swelling/paid I'd had. Damn thing is still permanently swollen... 1/25/2008 12:43:27 PM |

i've been using dr. eric meinburg at wake orthopedics. he's supposedly one of the best in the area, especially if you should need any surgery.

I had this problem a few months back, where I was originally told that I probably fractured my heel. The doctor told me that it would take a while to heal, but that x-rays wouldn't show the fracture until AFTER a length of time. When I went back, they re-x-rayed me and said "no fracture," but that I had probably torn the fascia on the bottom of my foot. I got insoles and I am relatively well healed. It still hurts a fair bit sometimes, though nothing to the point of it being prohibitive. 1/26/2008 7:04:01 PM |
