Walnut Creek might actually have a pretty good summer after last years suckfest.
REM/Modest Mouse/The National Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Well at least those two shows are better than all of last summer. 1/29/2008 1:01:40 PM |

I didn't know that REM was even still around.
I am gonna go and scream "Play Superman" over and over again until Michael Stipes assaults me, then I am gonna sue. 1/29/2008 1:55:28 PM |

^^i went to his last show and it was probably the best show i've seen there (but that is not saying much)
and after seeing the national at cat's cradle it will be a let down to see them here 1/29/2008 3:11:36 PM |

Your statement seems to imply that you think Modest Mouse should be the headliner. Surely you don't really think that?1/29/2008 3:25:02 PM |

rem is on the list of bands i must see....seen concert dvds and they're amazing live. not to mention they're arguably the greatest american band or were... at least until they signed to warner bros. 1/29/2008 4:09:56 PM |

Nah, don't think MM should headline *over* REM, simply saying I would pay to see a concert Modest Mouse headlines, but won't pay to see a show REM headlines.
Matter of taste. 1/29/2008 4:59:26 PM |

so why does Michael Stipe use a teleprompter?
Is this common(i assumed no which is why i'm asking why he uses one)?
I'm watching a previous live show on direcTV now where he is using one, and he also is using one here at langerado(i'm in the front row in the yellow-ish shirt right above "EL" in the michael weintrob watermark ):

When you've been writing songs professionally for 25 years, it's hard to remember the words to all of them.
It's fairly common with older guys. ] 5/17/2008 4:53:17 PM |

Did anyone else see that "doors open at 5:30, show starts at 6:30"?
It's as important for me to see The National as it is either REM or Modest Mouse, and they're going to go on at 6 -fucking -30, are you shitting me?
People have jobs, bitch... and rush hour traffic to get home thru in order to get to your shitty venue on the complete opposite side of Raleigh.
Fuck you walnut creek.

^ no kidding. Truth be told, had I not already seen The National twice, I would say they were my #1 priority tomorrow instead of just equal priority to Modest Mouse and REM.
I'm going to be one pissed off motherfucker if I miss them.
It's bad enough that The National and Modest Mouse are only getting 10 songs a piece compared to REM's 25, and now to find out they're going on at 6:30?

the national surprised me by how well they adapted to such a large venue
modest mouse was WAY better than the last time i saw them and they actually played more pre-good times tracks than post (including doin' the cockroach which i went apeshit for)
i could care less about r.e.m. 6/11/2008 12:20:05 AM |

did they play Radio Free Europe?
they didn't when I saw em at langerado.
I was tripping with lucy in the sky, and when they left after the encore and didn't play RFE, i was epicly upset, lol. I was confused and upset and didn't want to leave my spot that i chilled at literally all day.
but I eventually did 6/11/2008 12:27:44 AM |
