"Microsoft Drops Price for Xbox 360 HD DVD Add-On

Tags: Microsoft, Xbox 360, High-Def Retailing, Amazon (all tags)

Playing catch-up with a series of price drops on HD DVD players from Toshiba, Microsoft has shaved another $50 off the MSRP for its Xbox 350 HD DVD add-on.

That brings the new suggested retail price on the Xbox 360 HD DVD player in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand to $129.99.

Today's price drop from Microsoft (which is already reflected on the official Xbox site) comes on the same day that Amazon briefly offered the add-on for a mere $79.99. The web retailer promptly sold out of units at that price, and is currently selling the add-on via one of its partners for $155.67.

Purchases of the Xbox 360 add-on include a free HD DVD copy of of 'King Kong' inside the box, and qualify for an additional five free discs by mail as part of the HD DVD camp's "Perfect Offer" program."

also would not count hd dvd out of the race quite just yet, i would hold on it this thing if i were you, unless you are just trying to sell because you bought this on an impulse and now realize that you don't want it.

^^ ON the contrary- I do purchase much of this and use myself however I have a very short attention span and gain/lose interest in things very easily-

granted I purchase a lot just to resell, but I would say 80% of the shit I buy I will in fact use for a while myself before selling...

This is not a terrible deal by any means- Yes my asking price of $340 is a bit high for TWW but if u calculate $130 for the HDDVD PLayer and call the Movies $20 a piece (which everyone of them runs more than this) you are looking at $340...

That is where my pricing comes from- I am open to offers...

Yeah, you people are underestimating the value of the actual movies. That being said, I wouldn't consider buying them, but I also don't have an HDTV so...

so you are selling everything at almost face value? I don't get it. I thought it was used...

You can get most of these movies for $19.95 because

1) best buy has all hd/blu ray movies $5 off + amazon.com always has good deals. And now the price of the add-on has been reduced.

here are a listing of all current prices via best buy right now:

Transformers- $29.99
- King Kong- $29.99
- Swordfish $24.99
- Four Brothers $24.99
- Top GUn $19.99
- Last Samurai $24.99
- Evan Almighty- $29.99
- Matrix Revolutions $19.99
- Oceans 13- $34.99
- Lucky Sleven $24.99
- Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas $24.99
- Backdraft- $24.99

This totals $314.88 + Tax (? 7%) = $336.92

add $129.99 + tax ($139.09) for HDDVD add-on = $476.01 total for the package for retail...

So I am asking for best offer over $200- If I were to sell at $200 this would be $276.01 less than face value

I guess you don't know about the $5 coupons at best buy right now you can use as many as you want...1 per movie.

No- i guess i haven't seen them and those prices listed are the online prices (generally the lowest possible including online discount)

But lets say that there are these mysterious $5 off coupons at the store and the discount is off of the online price- That is an extra $60 off which still puts the package $416.01- In which case I am still asking less than %50 of retail-

we can go on for days- the fact is... this is a good deal, less than you would pay retail, and i am not going to give the shit away as I am in no hurry or desperation to sell-

and if you buy a new HDDVD drive, you get 6 movies free. so even at 35 bucks a pop for the other 5, thats only a buy it new price of 305.

^^ ok- so lets do this then....

Back to my list- We'll strike King Kong and then 6 older titles-

Transformers- $29.99
- King Kong- $29.99
- Swordfish $24.99
- Four Brothers $24.99
- Top GUn $19.99
- Last Samurai $24.99
- Evan Almighty- $29.99
- Matrix Revolutions $19.99
- Oceans 13- $34.99
- Lucky Sleven $24.99
- Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas $24.99
- Backdraft- $24.99

lets also note that the movies offered for free are all cheap movies and run less than most of what i have- the only title i am offering that they offer as well is swordfish

now we're looking at (and i'm just going to round the spare pennies) $170 in movies -

now lets subtract out the mysterious $5 coupons again and we've got $30 discount so $150 in movies-

$130 for the hd-dvd player

this is $280 + tax = $299.60

So still saving $100 @ a $200 price-

also- heres a link to another wolfwebber selling similar package only with 10hd-dvds for $275 and sold without issue-

http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=509189

^almost as horrible a deal as your dvd's

sorry for the double post.... But although they did in fact lower the price of the hd-dvd add on; as it was just dropped today (2-6) there is still no word as to whether it will include the "perfect deal" with 5 free movies... T

hey could pull a dick move still and not include the 5 free movies with the price drop-

LOL because they're free...

^yeah because your scamming ass wanted to pay $2/dvd when $5/dvd is more than fair. I mean I can go to bestbuy.com and show you that these dvd's retail for anywhere from 14.99-19.99

haha- if u read through there is nothing online (as of last night) that says the deal will include the 5 free dvds- It says that the package for $129.99 includes the universal remote, usb connector, and king kong- Thats it...

Either way.... I'm not changing my price when no matter how you look at it you are still saving over $100 off buying new-

And no one in their right mind would buy 200 dvd's at $5 a piece- Thats fucking retarded....

^you asked to buy all my DVD's. I gave you the price per DVD. Do you really think I was going to let them all go to one person for such a jewish rate? no. I've been selling all my DVD's for $5/each with no problems.
