Long story short....
I want to get involved with combating human trafficking.
I am willing to relocate worldwide, but I have limited foreign language skills and no law enforcement training. I don't want to sit behind a desk stuffing envelopes with literature and I don't want to get involved with the politics/lobbying efforts that really don't do any real good.
Given those parameters, what is the best way to get involved as seriously as possible.

United Nations.
if you're enrolled in a graduate program, you can apply for a summer internship at the UN- working for the headquarters in NY. go to UN.org, create a profile, and in the essay portion of the application let them know about your interests and motivations. 1/29/2008 9:09:45 PM |

I've worked with human trafficking issues overseas in the past and have former classmate of mine working in Tblisi right now as a Trafficking expert for Georgia.
I'm sure that you have thought this through and have read extensively on the subject so it would be easier to offer suggestions if youd be a bit more specific in what you are interested in doing. Frankly, human trafficking does not get the attention that it really should, it is a problem nearly everywhere you look. That said what type of work are you interested in doing? What region of the world? What specific subset of human trafficking interests you the most (or does it not matter to you that much)? Do you want to work for an NGO, National Govt, IGO, IO, etc?
A good place to start looking is http://www.reliefweb.int they have an extensive job board there that often has trafficking related jobs listed.
