I'm helping my brother move into a new house, and he has two CRX's that need to be towed. Does anybody have a trailer that I could borrow for a few hours?
Any other ideas on getting the cars from point A to point B?
Thanks! Justin 2/5/2008 2:19:43 PM |

what are you going to be towing it with? i've got a 32ft. car hauler that will fit both cars. i might be willing to loan it out for a few bucks, but you need a decent tow rig and preferably an electric brake controller due to the weight. i'd also want some assurance that you know wtf you're doing driving/maneuvering a big trailer...

Thanks for the offer. It's two CRX's, so I'm sure they'd fit. The truck is a Toyota Tundra V8 (rated for 8000lbs), but I don't have an EBC. I could just tow one car at a time. How much does the trailer weigh?
I've driven several moving trucks (26ft uhauls) and some medium and small size trailers (16ft?). Nothing that big. I have someone else who has driven bigger stuff who I can get to drive it if necessary.
Anyways, I'll send you a PM.

the trailer itself is about 4k lbs. at most, maybe a little less. so, with two civics you're probably looking at 8-9k total i would guess. 6k or so with just one. you'd probably be okay if this is just around town and you take it VERY easy. the problem isn't going to be pulling it, it's stopping. especially for something unexpected like a car pulling out in front of you, etc.
i would offer to pull it for you myself with my truck, but i probably wouldn't be able to do it until the end of next week.
if this doesn't work out, you can rent a tow dolly from u haul for about $40 a day. full trailers are about $60 a day. also, united rentals off of new bern ave. rents trailers for around $50 a day. AAA could be a free option if you know someone that has it depending on their plan, whether or not the cars have tags, etc. 2/5/2008 7:08:19 PM |

BBR sent me a PM about this....Ill be willing to help you do it under a few conditions.
1) I pull the trailer. Im sure Ivan trusts me with it more than someone random, plus ive got the experience pulling/loading trailers that big (thats my red shitmissile on the trailer).
2) You load the trailer, but I have to check it. (i.e. i dont really feel like busting my balls pushing/pulling two broke ass cars up onto the trailer).
3) I can supply a truck to pull it with, but you pay for fuel and time.
How far are we talking? 2/5/2008 8:00:20 PM |

i want to pull that trailer around just to pull it. it looks fun especially how the axles are smack dead in the middle. 2/5/2008 8:35:59 PM |

lol, someone inexperienced enough could demolish some traffic with that thing.
There was a thread a while back on Pirate (i think) about some guy who took a left turn with a trailer just like that one, but didnt drive forward enough first and whipped the rear of the trailer over in the lane to the right of his (because of overhang) and FUCKED up like 3 cars. 2/5/2008 9:32:45 PM |

And they arent exactly in the middle. My truck (the red one) is alot longer than Jeepmans TJ and you can see his TJ hits the fenders of the trailer and mine doesnt.2/5/2008 9:34:50 PM |

ivan, you've got enough room on that trailer to fit the taco bell.
[Edited on February 5, 2008 at 9:36 PM. Reason : so either two trail rigs or a taco bell... hmmmm]

Thanks for the offers guys. I was a bit worried about backing the 32ft'er up my brother's long & narrow driveway, so I ended up reserving a uhaul trailer for tomorrow. If I'd seen your post, slravene, I would have taken you up on that, but I had to make a decision before the uhaul place closed. Anyways, thanks again! 2/5/2008 10:54:19 PM |

Bitch is so long that the depth perception of the picture makes Jeepmans TJ look like a monster truck compared to the niggerburban. (also makes his 36s look HUGE) 2/6/2008 12:18:19 AM |

haha... I want to see a pic of the burb with it's new bling towing that monstrocity of a trailer Wish I could upload my pics from the random night in Sanford... pic makes it look like the bus takes up the whole damn parking lot of advanced auto [and BBR tactfully parked in a SINGLE parking space!!]
Good luck w/ your trailer escapades tomorrow, J.H. 2/6/2008 12:29:51 AM |

^haha, slravene might have some fresh pics of it next weekend. he's using it to tow his truck to dpg.
yeah, the axles aren't completely centered. i'd say probably 3ft. or so torwards the rear. it's not terrible to pull with a normal truck, but you definitely have to be mindful of the tail whip and extra deck width though. especially pulling away from gas pumps, etc.
it's a hell of a combo when it's hooked up to the new toterhome, easily 75ft. total. just ask colter about going all around downtown nashville with it. 2/6/2008 1:31:26 AM |

It was pretty tight at the shootout in Tenn with the Evil Bus pullin it and with Matts unloading of His jeep was also a adding factor to it 2/6/2008 1:50:25 AM |
