I don't know how much of an impact this has on other major sports (all I remember is us playing basketball against Guelph lol), but at the very least it's going to have major implications for NCAA hockey.

Thanks to a ruling at the NCAA convention last month, college hockey may see its next big expansion movement come north of the border.
NCAA officials voted overwhelmingly to allow Canadian schools to apply for NCAA membership in all sports. Canadian schools could begin play in the NCAA as early as next season, with Division II as the predetermined landing spot.
But since hockey doesn't have a Division II, Canadian universities could jump right into Division I in that sport." |

lmao in ncaa football a few years ago i created a bunch of schools and replaced the sun belt with them and put them all in canada (to not really mess up any real schools local recruiting and 3 of the teams ended up being top 10 almost every year. 2/15/2008 5:29:14 PM |

Canadians play football with 12 men on the field too. And wtf is up with the goal posts being right at the goal line? I thought all the people running into them is why we (Americans) moved the goal posts behind the endzone.

from that graphic, it looks like the goal posts are planted at about the goal line, and then hang over to boot.

National Basketball Assoc. National Hockey League
they're all just names. no real context. I mean come on we have the WORLD SERIES, and only 3 countries can at most participate. 2 of them has only 1 team.
it will stay NCAA and I think this is awesome. maybe NCAA hockey will finally get some damn attention.
