My parents have a 42" plasma tv that is out of warranty. Issue is that a blue (~2inch wide) bar comes on with the tv and usually remains on for a while (at least for several hours of viewing). Playing with the aspect ratio, power consumption, and automatic picture settings (EZ-picture) can sometimes cause it to disappear temporarily.
Although I have plans to call LG, has anyone heard/experienced this? What kind of bill can they expect? 2/15/2008 10:30:26 PM |

^yes. Sorry for the delay. I've read that there are controller boards for each side of the tv which have a tendency of going bad. I noticed that draining the caps (keeping the standby switch on, turning it off with the remote, then unplugging it for a few hours) seemed to be a temporary fix, lasting for up to an hour and a half.
Any other suggestions?
thank you for your replies.
