That'd work. I bought a 500gb external right before my laptop died so I just need something I can install Ubuntu on and make sure the mobo works.

when would you need it? it's currently serving as my HTPC drive with a dual-boot of mythbuntu, so i'd need to ghost that off it...i've been meaning to do it for a while now, but haven't gotten around to it

No specific time frame, but I'm really tempted to go buy a 250gb for $60 and have this computer done. I need it within a week, sooner is much better since I need to make sure the mobo is good.
