Thats a Saturday. so go ahead and plan that weekend off, you might need sunday to recover.
http://www.allaboutbeer.com/wbfraleigh/

Tickets arent on sale yet, but if i remember correctly, they go on sale a month or so in advance. so this is enough time to get some money lined up so we dont see any more beer fest wanted to buy ticket threads.

Downtown Raleigh, NC
Moore Square
1st Session: 12 noon to 4 pm
2nd Session: 6 pm to 10 pm

"

The second session is the most popular IMO becuase nearing the end of the session vendors start giving away a lot of their stuff, either free or for cheap, plus you get more beer.

I can't wait for this.

My buddy almost chose this date for his wedding.

He switched it.

I'm glad I can be in his wedding now.

do any vendors run out of beer though? i would think from a beer standpoint, you have a better chance to try anything you want from 12-4.

each vender usually has like 2-5 different types of beers. and only a very few will have one of those beers unavailable in the afternoon session. but yeah, like above person said, get what you wanna try early. then go and try everything else.

i'll probably try to make some kind of note about the ones i like.

it'd be pointless to taste them a bunch only to forget them all. heh.

i went a few years ago, before the cap was popped on the % rule.

someone left a box of 12% irish beer, the ones in wine bottle size, on the bench near the bathroom.

we had a fun night with that. tasted kind of horrible

yeah, upping the abv law was key!

i just didn't realize there was still a 15% ceiling.

^ is the 120 any good? too strong?

I liked it but i tried the pumpkin right after and didn't taste crap ... then tried a stout and didn't taste crap... it basically ruined my pallet for 30-45 min.

But if i remember correctly.... it was heaven.

But 90min is probably my favorite beer ever or one of 5.

i think the way the law is written it only affects beer SALES so if they import it on their own and give it away i think its legal.... I know the VIPs got utopia one year and its like 25% abv or something.

i happened to get 2 beer taps from the vendors. which apparently it is illegal to walk out with the taps.

but every year i have a blast. i always manage to free beer . you just gotta know where to look at the end of the event.

i know tickets aren't on sale yet, but does anyone know if they are planning on raising the price from last year?? i think last year it was like $37. my co-worker said he's been twice and the second year was more expensive so i am curious.

ok?

here's where i'm coming from:
assuming beer is $4 at a bar (and that's high if you get a domestic) you'd need 9.75 beers worth of liquid to get your money's worth if a ticket is $37.

vendors advertise a 2oz sample per beer.
9.75 beers * 12 oz/beer = 117 oz
117 oz * 1 sample/2oz = 58.5 samples.

so you'd need to drink 59 samples to break even.

no way in hell you're going to get your money's worth consumption wise in only 4 hours with piss breaks and crowds. it's about quality.

That's 15 samples/hour ... easy to do if you just walk down a row and drink everything you come across.

Not saying I'm going to drink that many, but it's possible.
