Is it just me or does seeing a crowd of people around a star athlete all sticking out their hands with pens wanting an autograph instead of shaking his hand or talking to him, sound like a complete waste of what could me a memorable experience, and also rude.
That is why I think if poeple have become so stupid and singleminded with a sense of entiltlement that they feel that all athletes should sign autographs, then athletes should be able to dismiss all of them. Fans I think dont have a real respect for the stars and are only there to grab whatever they can and run.
but im willing to hear the other sides argument on this..... 2/20/2008 4:32:48 PM |

when you're paid millions for playing a game, I think you can make some concessions and deal with a few asshats. 2/20/2008 4:38:10 PM |

I'd say I was about 15 when I stopped trying to get shit signed at Hornets and Panthers games
When you're a kid, its one thing
and when you're selling whatever you get signed, thats another thing
But when grown men are crowded around athletes half their age begging for them to write their name on something, it just seems kind of ridiculous...I'd feel embarrassed trying to get an autograph now
If people wanted my autograph, I'd probably usually be willing to sign it, especially for kids. But given most people's view of the modern athlete, I'd fully expect anyone I turned down to call me an asshole and label me a thug. 2/20/2008 4:38:37 PM |

i agree that they shouldn't, and don't, have to....but if they choose not to, they don't get to complain when fans badmouth them for their decision 2/20/2008 5:02:47 PM |

also they're obviously going to sign autographs for anybody if its some paid event like at a sports card show or a department store and they're charging 5 bucks a pop
but if its pre or post game, and you decide to sign all the kids and not the adults, i dont care
i'd rather get a photo with a celeb nowadays anyway 2/20/2008 5:04:10 PM |
