I'm making red wine with my dad and we need to bottle soon. I've got about 15 right now, but need more. I'm taking the labels off, sanitizing them, and bottling it.

There are at least two in my recycle bin you can have. Pick them up anytime before Wednesday.

There are some vodka bottles and some whiskey bottles in there if they are any good to you.

so you are looking for red colored bottles then? I have lots of wine bottles that used to have red wine in them, but none of them are red. i have one red colored bottle, but it had white wine in it.

just go to a small restaurant and ask. now that we have to recycle, we end up with about 2 trash bags full of wine bottles every day.

yeah, red colored bottles are pretty rare. I'd say almost all red wine comes in dark green glass bottles, with a dark brown or gray every so often...Clear or more unusual colors (red, blue, light green) are almost always used for whites.

Does the type really matter that much though? I don't think the shape of the bottle would matter at all, since there are so many different shapes out there. The possibility I can think of would be if light affects red wine, which might explain why red wine bottles are usualy dark glass.

^Could you save some for me at your restaurant and let me come pick em up?

^^Dark bottles are better for white and red wine, the reason white is in a clear bottle is for marking purposes. Darker colors slow down oxidation.
