i think i am, at least this year.
i have been an ncstate fan my whole life (our since i was old enough to remember). i was 6 the last time we won anything of significance in the 2 sports i care about (bball and fball). i think all i really need to say here is that i grew up going to watch les robinson coached teams. (edit: oh and i also grew up in greenville, nc, home of the biggest ncstate haters in the land and i had to deal with PEACH FUZZ tshirts form the 93 peach bowl all through high school...and i graduated in 99)
i grew up a 9ers/'skins fan, both of whom have alot of history but i was in middle school either of them has done anything worthwhile, so nothing there for my formidable sports watching years. not to mention that they have each taken a few turns being near the worst in the nfl. the 9ers have a #1 pick qb who doenst look to be panning out and there reward for a horrible season is to give a high draft pick to the pats. meanwhile the skins best defensive player got fucking murdered(when doe sthat happen??) and now they are coached by a qb coach
i was huge Barkley fan when he was on the Suns and followed him to the Rockets when he went to them. rockets remained my favorite after that. when barkley was with the suns, i do remember the finals and the buzzsaw that was jordan's bulls. then i start following the rockets AFTER their championships. last 5 years thye make the playoffs and lose in the 1rst round. this year they get off to a shitty start only to turn it on and be the hottest team in the league POW yao ming breaks his foot, out for the year.
the white sox are the only ones who have had a significant victory, but usually they played little brothers to the poopoo platter of the indians/twins/tigers. one year they play really well OH NO LET'S STRIKE AND END THE SEASON. they did win the world series a 3 years back, which was great, but ths year they were the worst team in the league at times.
so this year, my college bball team is in last place. my college fball team didnt make a bowl, which means they are in the bottom 50% of all college fball teams. my nfl teams were one of the worst teams in the nfl and a team that got absolutely blown out in the playoff. my nba team lost there star player for the season in the middle of a hot streak. and my mlb team was one of the worst in all of baseball.
am i cursed?
if i start rooting AGAINST my teams, will that give a reverse jinx??

Going by your metric, every fan's teams are "cursed"
No team wins every year and we all have excuses that are just as lame as yours
This is stupid

wtf how are you a fan of teams from Arizona, Kansas City, and Toronto?

yea obviously i am being melodramatic
i was just depressed about my current sports years, and really, being a fan of nc state is enough to make anyone quit.
but i thought it would be interesting to see who has it worst
^i'm fans of team from arizon/texas, illinois, dc, cali; that is what happens when you grow up with only one professional franchise w/in an 8 hour drive

and I liked the players that went to those places and had family out that way for awhile, so i got to see those at an early age and it left an imprint
I pull for the Braves to do well and the Panthers as well as the Bobcats, but they are 2nd in line.
i know its odd...i know but i have it pretty bad, and you can ask anyone around me, i really do pull for those teams

I am sports cursed.
I am a lifelong Atlanta Falcons fan.
I am an Altanta Braves fan, simply because I played on a baseball team when I was younger called the Braves.
When I got to high school, my traditionally good high school athletics (football) program went to shit.
When I get to college, Wolfpack football and basketball go to shit.
However, the Chargers have been doing good in the past two years (whenever Rivers began starting) and they've been relatively safe so far....
The Panthers went to shit too.

My high school's football program was nationally ranked in the early '90s. They were 11-30 while I was there, 1-19 over my freshman and sophomore years.2/28/2008 11:50:38 PM |

I feel you on this dawg.
I pulled for Carolina my whole life until I got to State, but I can only remember the last few Dean years (shortly after they won the 93 championship), the Bill Guthridge disaster and then Doherty. Then I came to State to avoid the rampant douchebaggery that resides in Chapel Hill, hoping to actually have a good football team to pull for because Carolina always sucked. Of course my freshman year would be the year after Philip Rivers left. Stupid me for thinking State was good due to coaching. Oh, and of course, that was the same year Carolina came out of the doldrums to win the fucking Basketball title (04-05). I should have known because I had fully started pulling for State by that point.
I told all of that to someone recently and they suggested I should start pulling for Carolina again so that they would start to suck. I gave it some thought and then decided against it because the Sports gods would know I was insincere and they would double-fuck NC State to get me back. Of course being a joke in football and basketball is about as low as a school can go anyway, so I still might try it.
Oh, and I also pull for the Panthers and the 'Skins. Nuff said. 2/28/2008 11:53:47 PM |

I wouldn't call it cursed but I do pull for bad teams:
Wolfpack (mostly basketball) Bills (Best team in Africa) Sabres Indians (Not a huge MLB fan but still follow) Phil Mickelson (Sometimes he does bring some excitement but most of the time he chokes)
I follow most of these rather intently. I live to be disappointed all year, every year. Guess it will only make it that much sweeter when something finally does happen! 2/29/2008 12:35:13 AM |

SF Giants (I didn't root for Barry, so lay off) Smokies baseball (Cubs AA) Steelers Hurricanes U of Tenn (Home) NC State
Looks like the Giants and State basketball are the only poor playing teams there
And I don't know what it is, but some games (and it doesn't matter what) teams will do better when I don't watch the game, but as soon as I turn it on, they suck again. I.E. Vandy/Tenn game

MLB: Mets -- biggest September collapse in baseball history NFL: Jets -- no explanation needed NBA: Knicks* -- no explanation needed College: State -- (luckily I'm a UConn fan too and they've bounced back)
* I have adopted the Warriors too. They are probably my favorite team now since I live by them. 2/29/2008 1:03:04 AM |

College- State NFL- Redskins MLB- Braves NHL- Hurricanes
So i've seen two of my teams win Titles. The canes two years ago and the Braves in '95. I've gotten to see the Redskins in the playoffs. State has made it to the Gator Bowl and the Sweet 16 since i've been alive and able to watch. I'm sure there is worse out there. 2/29/2008 3:06:07 AM |

I'm pretty lucky in terms of having teams that I pull for being successful:
College: Ohio State NHL: Hurricanes MLB: don't follow it, I just pull for whoever wins game 1 of the WS to sweep so it can end. NFL: I was a Titans fan when Eddie George was there, now I'm not hugely supportive of any one team, but if I had to pick, it'd be the Panthers NBA: There's several teams that I enjoy watching, but again, don't REALLY support (buy merch, read team boards, etc...) but the ones I like based on style of play are Suns, Lakers, Celtics (anywhere KG plays, I'll enjoy)
I spend so much time with Ohio State sports and the Hurricanes that I'd be a damn mess if I devoted any more time to other teams. 2/29/2008 5:23:54 PM |

College: Clemson - was born one month after the football team won their only national title but have enjoyed an-above average sports program in general (football, basketball, and baseball combined)
Pro Football: Buffalo Bills then Carolina Panthers - Super Bowl losers but have enjoyed some great teams. Those early Bills teams were fun to watch. 2/29/2008 5:28:15 PM |

the only exception that i'm willing ot make is when teh Canes play the Devils, because i'm a fan of both teams (moreso canes of course, but i was a devils' fan before the canes moved here so there's still lingering fandom) 2/29/2008 6:48:06 PM |
