Continuation from my other less recognizable thread dealing with UNS routes.
I've spent the better part of tonight figuring out what the fuck is going on with my router. Suddenlink would not help me at first until I got escalated to someone who at least tried to work with me on the issue.
The only thing I can think is that something is botched with the current public IP associated with my router's MAC address.(75.110.15.49( There is no way for them to assign me a new one (bullshit). The guy tried to unprovision my modem and all it did was reset the lease time to 24hrs fresh. My laptop works perfect plugged directly into the modem (75.110.9.x) and so does my PC (75.110.16.128). I've replaced DD-WRT v24 RC3 with RC 6 and then back to RC4 and finally to v23 SP2 (stable). After that I completely scrapped DDWRT and installed Tomato. Still cannot connect to WOW, usenet servers, tww, brent road, or most other googled sites. I also cannot ping verizon's public DNS servers 4.2.2.2 or 4.2.2.3
youtube, cnn, yahoo, myspace and NCSU's DNS 152.1.1.22 are just some of the places that work fine with WRT and Tomato.
I'm seriously at a complete loss here and since I cannot satisfy the only variable I want to eliminate (75.110.15.49) I'm turning to you guys. The last thing the rep said was his team leader told him Suddenlink officially does not support networking, but if neither of them worked there, they would tell me to get another router and keep the receipt to see if that one works. I mean, sure thanks for suggesting that against company policy, but of course it will work because it will have a new MAC address and therefore pull another IP from their pool. Solving nothing.
BLAH
Lol, I guess typing all of that was just what I needed. I cloned my PC's MAC address through tomato and it's working perfect. I still want to know WTF is wrong with the other IP address.

You sure? They at least give them to their customers as their own, regardless. Anyway, it's moot...fact of the matter is suddenlink reps are meh. I put a bandaid on this here gunshot wound, and when I try to call back and get transfered to the extension this dude tells me other guy is gone, I explain what I did to him and that he should look into those other blocks of IP addresses he turns into kind of a prick. Oh well, at least I have teh wireless internet again.

still, it didn't fix the problem, only bypassed it. I think I might like Tomato better than DDWRT though, so maybe something good came out of this frustrating night. My friends and I couldn't even watch There will be blood, because I couldn't download the other cd's and stream to xbox at the same time...ruined the night2/29/2008 12:36:46 AM |
