need it to tow a motorcycle around, maybe other stuff. what would you guys recommend, maybe in the $2000-3000 price range. I've been looking at some Ford Rangers, but I'm not sure who rules as far as dependability goes. I'd also prefer a 3.0L V6, 4cyls are lame and v8's are too much. Also...

do people usually go for 4x4 for the fun-factor?
how much does it usually cost to get a towing hitch installed?
does a motorcycle trailer need to be registered?

just get a ramp and put the bike in the back and forget about the trailer.

well that and ya know, being able to drive in snow and shit--really around here it doesn't matter, we haven't seen a real winter in years

depends on the truck--not much though. a lot of them you can do yourself with shit from walmart, esp if all you're doing is towing a motorcycle

When I bought the 05 F-150 I have now, I was thinking about being cheap and buying a Ranger. When I got to actually looking, though the full size truck made more sense because it was not that much more expensive and the small trucks don't get that much better mileage. I once bought a used compact truck because I thought it would be easier on gas and it was, but only by a thin margin. As a matter of fact, I had a 4 cyl ranger that got about the same as my F-150
