ive come across one for $700 or so. hopefully lower.
so ive done some searching online. just hoping one of you negros would have personal experience with one of these.
now ive read that they are "beasts" but just not such a good idea to go rock climbing because they are centered high. no biggie, my main reason for purchase is to keep at our house at the beach for driving on the sand.
right now as it sits, its needs a clutch master cyl and well we had trouble starting it tonight (nighttime being a big problem). but ill just throw a battery on it and a charger or something and some gas and see if i can fire it up.
anything i should know? it looks pretty good. motor and interior. now not sure how many miles (not sure why i totally forgot to check tonight).
but i may be going back tomorrow or tuesday to give it another try in starting up. 3/3/2008 1:29:07 AM |

first, it's not really a dodge as i'm sure you noticed or have read. it's a mitsubishi montero for all intents and purposes.
i just happened to have one of the little bastard dodge/mitsu trucks a few years ago, but it was in the variety of a 4wd d50. mostly the same drivetrain. one of the best little trucks i've ever seen. my dad bought it in response to the oil crisis of the 80's, and it went through constant abuse as a company truck for us for 15 years. then i drove it as my work truck in high school and beat the hell out of it for almost 2 more years. my brother and i spent many a weekend driving it back and forth to hickory wide open loaded down with parts/materials too. the guy it was finally sold to didn't treat it any different, and eventually hydrolocked the motor putting it up to its windows in a mud hole off new hope rd.
anyway, they're no more high centered than anything else really. build quality is comparable to any other japanese 4wd at the time, which is all pretty beefy/reliable. should be a 2.6 mitsu 4 cylinder. downsides are they rust pretty bad and there isn't much aftermarket support. not that you really care about either for a beach vehicle though.
hit up http://www.4x4wire.com . definitely the authority on the net for them. 3/3/2008 2:29:45 AM |

if you have a question about an unpopular older car, SUV, or pickup, BBR is likely to have owned it. 3/3/2008 11:30:14 PM |
