I killed a cat when I was little once. There was this stray cat in alley and my friends and I were throwing little pebbles at it. I picked up a fairly large piece of asphalt (size of a silver dollar) and chunked it at the kitty. I hit is right between the eyes. It started bleeding out of it's nose and stumbling around. We all ran. I came back later to the scene of a dead cat.

Scarred me for life.

this guy and his buddies who did nothing about it are truely sick and should be punished for both what they did and for further scaring the face of the military and the US.

i'm against the war in iraq, but i would not use this as a reason to be against the war. there are enough reasons already. however, when people see shit like this it pisses them off. since it was a person in US military gear, some get pissed off at the US military. same way when some ELF fuck burns down a house and it's spun to make it look like any environmentally conscience person is a loon.

I'm just playing devils advocate here, but a lot of countries in that part of the world are overrun with stray dogs. Iragis have actually asked american soldiers to shoot them.

I don't condone it by any means, but thats one of the facts of life over there.

this didn't happen "here" it happened in Iraq so it doesn't really matter what jail time they might get if they did something in a different country

Enemies combatants killed in combat don't quite constitute the same thing as sadistic acts outside the realm of following orders. Not that I think the torture and killing of a dog in and of itself is a big deal in the context of the greater war going on, I do believe that people dumb enough to tape that sort of thing and have it released later do deserve some sort of reprimand.

I wonder what the rest of the world even thinks about this...aside from the problem of people basing their opinion on a country based on one person, I'm just curious as to what cultures think what. The US is a much more fragile culture than a lot of other countries so I'd guess some people would see it and not care...we can't see things from their perspective, only from our own perspective

Before you rush to judge these people, I would suggest you spend a year or two over in Afganistan killing other people. I'm not trying to say these guys should be let off the hook, I'm just saying that the psychological effects of what they're doing over there should be considered first.

yes, thank you. I didn't see the video (looks like it was taken down), and i'm sure it was horrible and none of us can imagine ourselves doing _______ to a dog like he did.

BUT, if this is what gets you riled up about the war, you are completely out of touch and naive. There have been hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed, and a fucking dog is "sending shockwaves" around the globe? Give me a fucking break. Maybe every soldier should just mount a video camera to his helmet or they should put up webcams on ever street corner in Bagdad and you can see what it looks like when people are ripped apart by bullets and bombs, then see how you feel about the war.

I generally agree. However, I'll add that the inevitability of events like this and the subsequent backlash is in fact a sound argument against an occupation. Of course, there are many other more compelling reasons.

how do you explain the hundreds of soldiers who befriend dogs and bring them back to the States? There are in deed psychological effects, but those psychological effects do not excuse someone by a psychopath. this is nothing short of being psychopathic. It is a disgrace to the thousands of US soldiers who never commit such immoral behavior to attempt to pass it off due to the horrors of war. entirely inexcusable from any front.

Slaughtering a dog for the hell of it is not as disturbing as killing a defenseless civilian, but it is certainly more repugnant than killing an enemy in combat.

In the Galapagos islands they have army snipers in helicopters shooting feral goats. Of course no one complains about that because its done to maintain ecological stability and goats aren't cute.
