Manpower Professional is working in collaboration with SAS on an exciting consulting opportunity for candidates with a Computer Science background. SAS is offering a unique, entry-level contract to hire opportunity to participate in an intensive training program in preparation for joining their consulting team as an Associate Consultant. This is a great opportunity to work with one of Americas top companies while allowing you to develop your software skills and expertise. This position will involve extensive travel and may be as much as 75%.
Essential skills include: -A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, quantitative, or business related field with an understanding of tiered architecture. -Current work (w/in the last 3 years) or academic experience with tiered architecture and database concepts -Work or academic experience in C, Java or programming in a third or fourth generation language
Additional skills include: -Excellent working knowledge of at least one operating system. -Excellent written and oral communication, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate with users in various technical backgrounds. -Demonstration of good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. -Public speaking experience such as presenting papers or classroom teaching a plus. -Knowledge of software or applications development life cycle. -Ability to work independently and as part of a team. -Experience with SAS is a plus. -Multi-lingual is a plus.
Responsibilities will include: -Consulting and special projects. -Analyzing information gathered during sales cycle, translating sales technical vision into a detailed technical implementation proposal. -Working with project team to plan work and execute plans. -Delivering software demonstrations and presentations outlining the technical features. -Building trusted relationship with account executives and client accounts.

Actually, having SAS on a resume may not be the greatest thing. Most of their work is with proprietary stuff, so you won't necessarily develop a lot of useful skills that you can apply at another company.
When I was in the software engineering class at state we had a CEO of a local software company come in and talk. I don't remember how it came up, but he told us that he was hesitant to hire people from SAS for that very reason, and he had even worked there before.
