ok so whats some good documentaries that you suggest

i just saw "the nazis: a warning from history" its like 4 hours but i was very well done, shows a side of nazis ive never seen before.
it focuses primarily on hitler and the party and how they got power and spreadout into europe.

I never saw this, but Errol Morris' documentaries are usually very good.

His "Mr. Death" and "Fast, Cheap, & Out of Control" are pretty entertaining.

If you're mostly looking to get useful information from documentaries, "Mr. Death" and "Fast, Cheap..." might not be the best ones to watch. Errol Morris is good at capturing character and portraying ostensibly ridiculous/ humorous subjects (a Holocaust denier, a topiary gardner, a lion tamer) sympathetically. He invented this contraption called "the Megatron" made up of about 20 different cameras to capture every minute gesture of the people he interviews.

Pretty cool.

i would have liked fog of war more if phillip glass hadn't insisted on plagiarizing himself with the score. it was downright distracting for me because i had played the piece that was listed in the credits as "original score"

but yeah, it's a great doc

I thought The Corporation was pretty one-sided and stupid. Not to say they don't make some good points, but it's so biased against corporations that the overall film just felt like propaganda to me. If you are anti-capitalism you'll probably love it though.

I just watched Meeting Resistance last night. I thought it was pretty good. It is pretty much video of Iraqi insurgents discussing why they fight. All of their faces are obscured, and the story is completely their own words with no commentary. I highly recommend it.

I'll admit that The Corporation is a bit of a polemic, and thus people who are ideologically opposed to alot of the ideas presented in it could certainly claim it is biased, but it doesnt change the fact that the film was well thought out and presented alot of material effectively. It got a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes so the vast majority of critics would probably agree.

I have watched this film so many times. It's riveting. In my top 10 films of all time. Probably one of the best films about living in America, the "American Dream," and social structure. Oh, and basketball.
