Wife is looking at one and is concerned about how many miles you can get out of one. In particular she is looking at a 2002 with approx 75k on it. There are plenty of threads regarding the performance aspects of the vehicle on here but not really discussing the longevity.
Any thoughts? 3/9/2008 5:36:31 PM |

I think this is the wrong place to look for advice like that.

If they didnt want it to go to 8000rpm they wouldn't let it.
There is nothing wrong with using a machine as it was intended

A list of things to be aware of. 75k miles is a decent amount on a roadster. Must have been a daily driver for someone.3/9/2008 8:51:43 PM |

Noob question....
is there something about different kinds of transmissions that make it harder to accidentally "money shift"? I've never accidentally tried to shift to the completely wrong gear before (like 3rd to 2nd) under hard acceleration, but I have been downshifting and had the gears grind at me and it wouldn't go into gear until I let the car slow down more. Why wouldn't the same thing happen if you tried to downshift from 3rd to 2nd when you're redlining?3/9/2008 10:12:40 PM |

No another pos 4 banger from H motor company.
(civic cx).
S2000 gets about 29-30 highway, and 23 when i drive it around town.
The top down lowers the fuel economy a noticeable amount (~2mpg).3/9/2008 10:13:38 PM |

As much as I love my S, I would not recommend it for a daily. I've had extremely good reliability with mine and I beat the hell out of it. However, even in good times it is not a cheap car to drive due to fuel and tire costs. If she just wants a cute roadster, honestly I'd say get a Miata. Cheaper to buy, cheaper to run, equal reliability. 3/10/2008 9:15:14 AM |

Nothing says , "i love you", like a 82k 360hp 4300lb convertible.

shes planning on checking out one in charlotte this weekend. shes basically wanted one forever, she likes it because its "cute". pricing seems to be a bit shady on them though. as an example theres one down the road here, 02 with 75k miles and they want $17k, blue book is only around 13 or 14 tops. 3/11/2008 4:40:09 PM |
