Seems like a huge downgrade for a coach who made the final four not only 2 years ago. Wish we could have made a play to hire him. Atleast he knows how to get where we want to go.

I just hate to see a good proven coach like that go to such an obvious terrible school because he got kicked off the last because of lack of talent where as we are stuck with great talent and a terrible coach.

He had four NCAA appearances in 11 years (2 loses in the first round, one Sweet 16 appearance and the Final Four) and a career 74-93 record in the SEC. He finished last in the West last year and was 1-6 and in last place when he was fired this year. I'd say 2006 was much more the exception to the norm than this year was. This guy was mediocre at best and stumbled into the Final Four once in his career. No reason to sanctify him.

Not saying he is the best NCAA coach ever, but with talent, he had success. Sure, it was one year, but he made it farther than Herb did, and did alot more with talent than Lowe is doing. You want a coach who can take us beyond the Sweet 16, Brady has been there with equal talent I would say, maybe a little less or more in some of your eyes. I just hate to see a final 4 coach go to Arkansas St of all places when we cant even make the tourney. Thats all I am trying to get at.

The issue isn't what he can or can't do with talent; it's whether or not he can consistently recruit the type of talent that won't lead to last place finishes in the SEC. I think he pretty resoundly proved that he can't, thus he was canned.

He's not a "Final Four coach." He's a coach who rode Glen Davis, Tyrus Thomas, and Darrel Mitchell to a Final Four. When they left, so did the wins. And to compare that type of talent to what we had on the floor this year is laughable.

Get over it. The guy had one great year, a couple good ones, and plenty time in the shitter. If he were a great coach, he wouldn't be at Arkansas St.

Would anyone on here be happy if we made it to the final four once in the past decade? We just finished last in the ACC! Shut the fuck up about how he sucks as a coach. He made the final four. When is the last time we made that? Go look that up. Not saying he is the savior or anything, but he is better than what we have right now. Sid has done nothing as far as college basketball goes. Who cares if he played in the NBA or was an NBA coach. That does nothing for us!

John Calipari made the Final Four once, 12 years ago, and I think those wins were forfeited due to NCAA violations.

I'd add Izzo, Olsen, maybe Pitino, and probably Donovan.

Of course it's a short list, that's the point.
