i dunno what you call it, but the part where the power cord plugs into my laptop... it's broken?! when the cord is jiggled AT ALL, it switches to battery. i have NO idea what the problem is... i guess the connection is not clean. i just got a new cord, so that is not the problem. help. please! 3/25/2008 6:07:07 PM |

Had the same problem on my old ass gateway many many years ago. I'm fairly certain the jack can be replaced..but I doubt you can do it. There's a laptop repair place on Hillsboro that could probably tell you more. I doubt you'll be doing this yourself. 3/25/2008 8:53:35 PM |

It depends how it's attached. I'm looking in the service manual for it and can't seem to find anything. I have an hp and the power connector board has a plug so it can be easily replaced if that's the only thing wrong.
hmm...looks like it's soldered on and costs about $40-$50 for just the dc jack.

You probably want one of these: http://www.notebooksolutions.ca/zc/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1872
I'd send your laptop off to them to have them solder it in place, IF this is what you need. Here's their page explaining how that all works: http://www.notebooksolutions.ca/zc/index.php?main_page=page&id=3
Hope this helps. 3/27/2008 12:17:57 AM |
