Quote :
" LOS ANGELES - A Texas woman who said she was forced to remove a nipple ring with pliers in order to board an airplane called Thursday for an apology by federal security agents and a civil rights investigation.

"I wouldn't wish this experience upon anyone," Mandi Hamlin said at a news conference. "My experience with TSA was a nightmare I had to endure. No one deserves to be treated this way."

Hamlin, 37, said she was trying to board a flight from Lubbock to Dallas on Feb. 24 when she was scanned by a Transportation Security Administration agent after passing through a larger metal detector without problems.

The female TSA agent used a handheld detector that beeped when it passed in front of Hamlin's chest, the Dallas-area resident said.

Hamlin said she told the woman she was wearing nipple piercings. The women then called over her male colleagues, one of whom said she would have to remove the jewelry, Hamlin said."

Should women have to remove their nipple rings?

I don't think that 37 year old women should have them to begin with.

Or 37 year old men, for that matter.

why would you need pliers to remove a ring like that?

as for the question, nope. how is that different from an earring or a navel ring, finger ring, etc?

btw, useless without pics.

I don't see why anyone should have them.

Piercing sensitive body parts seems like a bad move.

In any case, it's not your or my decision.

Apparently the nipple heals around the ring unlike other piercings so you can't just slip them in and out

In the wrong hands, it can be.

not to sound gross but ambrosia talked about how she had to clean up the piercing like it got puss or something

i think if its obvious, like its definitely some womans tits, then yeah it should be ok, but if its suspicious then they have all the right to check

That's not a nipple ring, that's the pin for a grenade!

^ahahahaha, excellent.
LiusClues actually posted something worthwhile.

Anyway, when I first read the thread title I imagined someone trying to literally fly (not get in a plane, but propel themselves into the air) using their nipple rings... I was disappointed.

And as for on-topic discussion, it's absurd to have to remove any sort of piercing to get on a plane. Showing it may be necessary in select cases, but removing should never be needed.

It sounds sexist to me. They've never said anything about my prince albert and I fly all the time.

I want a little pre-flight boobage

^^ Interesting.

And if we deemed your He-Man underwear to be a national threat and demanded you publicly remove them, would that be ok?
