holy shit GM owns 10% of Fiat, which means

GM owns 10% of Ferrari

THAT'S JUST WRONG, OK?

btw, i don't get all of the VW block. it is a bit complicated.

vw is VAG (Volkswagen AG) and Audi AG..

lines include lamborghini, seat, skoda, bentley, bugatti

seat and skoda are not available here.. i guess they also own MAN and SCANIA which are european big-truck/bus companies (think european freightliner)

and porsche owns 30.9% of VW (i thought it was higher, tho).. porsche and VW have some deeper ties that go back all the way to the beginning of VW.. and, iirc, the touareg is based on the cayenne (has porsche lug pattern)

does that help?

^ holy shit

beethead, thanks. i knew the part on the left of the middle VW logo, but the part on the right threw me off.

you know what, they should have arrow heads on the red lines, otherwise it leads to misunderstanding in some areas. for example, look at the PROTON and LOTUS logos, under VW. now, I know that PROTON (Malaysian) owns 63.75% of LOTUS, but for someone who doesn't know this, the relationship could be in either direction.

ARROW HEADS. NEED.

OK, so back to VW:

so PORSCHE owns 30.9% of VW.

and MAN owns 29.9% of VW? and SCANIA owns 20.03% of VW?

so, 80% of VW is owned by other companies? BUT THEN, there is a 3rd VW logo (right most), which goes to the middle VW logo, which means VW owns 100% of VW.

see how it is confusing? and plays with your mind?

BTW, I am familiar with SEAT, SKODA, MAN, and SCANIA... I see them all the time!

I know in the past yota and GM had joint ventures (read: toyota cavalier) - Is that still ongoing? the yellow dashed line gets confusing.

I also though that GM owned part of Subaru/FHI

Yep. For example, does Kia own Hyundai, or does Hyundai own Kia?

(That is an actual question btw...I do not know the answer.)

^ good point.

i don't know the answer, but i can still answer it with 100% certainty.

hyundai is far bigger than kia, so hyundai owns kia.

I guess its not recent enough. Porsche has purchased more shares and holds a majority, effectively controlling VAG.

So since Porsche controls VAG, does that mean if you drive any car from the VW/Porsche family of car companies, you will attract more VAG?
