I am thinking about buying a truck I want something I can deer hunt in and get a few scratches on but yet be durable enough to drive to the beach (an hour and a half away) and up to Raleigh to football games (again another hour and half away)
So I found a 2002 Z71 with 96,000 miles, the 4x4 package, and has the third door. The guy wants $9800 for it. The only thing really wrong with it is he has had to rebuild the transmission in it after 80,000miles. So would anyone buy this truck given the transmission problems and the high miles considering all the travel I want to do with it? 3/28/2008 5:27:11 PM |

i wouldn't. 80K is very premature for that transmission. i can't imagine the lack of maintenance or abuse the truck as seen. 3/28/2008 5:31:33 PM |

well, miles aren't really that high for that engine in my opinion and it has just had a transmission rebuild so i wouldn't expect that to go out too soon. underPSI is right though those transmissions usually last longer--i've seen one last twice that. so, it probably has been through some abuse. i'd keep looking but maybe see if you can haggle with the price enough to justify it. 3/28/2008 5:36:46 PM |

i need to just bite the bullet and get something that is about 2 or 3 years old with under 50K miles. I had 5 hard years of engineering shouldn't I just reward myself 3/28/2008 7:14:43 PM |

9800 is a decent price for an 02 w/ under 100,000... I wouldn't worry about the transmission, its already been replaced, and can be replaced again if nessacary (they aren't that expensive) 3/29/2008 12:19:32 AM |
