I'm going to the dentist tomorrow; I had this work done in November.

I had one MAJOR filling done, and a small one, on the upper right side of my mouth, and a moderate and a small on the bottom, on the right.

I actually had to go back after the initial work, to make the dentist grind down a sharp edge he'd left on the edge of the major filling. Because of that, I'd decided I wasn't going back to him for the work I still have yet to do (on the left side)

These molars have been susceptible to pain since then (I haven't had sensitive teeth before), and I think it's because the fillings are too thin (on the major one, the cavity was so bad that he pretty much seems to have left the outer shell of the tooth, and rim of the chewing surface, and left a smooth, concave surface. The moderate filling on the bottom? Similar, with a smaller concavity). At any time, no matter what I'm eating, I'm subject to this excruciation pain if I manage to bite down just wrong and the food is placed wrong. I've had this horrible pain from a sandwich - not exactly a hard food with extreme temperature.

Anyways, starting last night, any liquid (cold water; room temp sodaq) that managed to wash over those teeth HURT. I was outside taking pictures last night (not a cold night), and breathing through my mouth hurt. Today, coffee, both hot and lukewarm, hurt.

It's not the sharp, quick pain from before - it's a more frequent, more dull pain that's slower to leave.

And given how long fillings are supposed to endure, I feel like at this point that if they're degrading or separating, that indicates poor work on the dentist's part, and is not something I should be having to pay for to have fixed, 6mos after the work was done. Is this unreasonable?

dont immediately think its poor work unless he is known for doing this kinda stuff.

you could have eaten/chewed on something to loosen up the filling.

just go back and see what happens. if you have dental insurance then its nothing to worry about. but do ask him/her why it came loose
