I figured you all would be wiz's at telling me where to take my tower to get it fixed. I know I can go to Best Buy and places like that, but are there independent places that don't charge as much?
I think I need more RAM and need them to completely wipe out my computer and put it back to how it was when it was new. It's just going nuts on me, and I haven't been able to really use it for at least a month now.
Maybe one of you guys know what you're doing. I just want the best option that won't make me feel as if I got raped when it's all said and done
Thanks!!! 4/7/2008 11:48:06 AM |

I couldn't imagine paying someone to do those things.
What is your computer brand? It should be fairly easy to go to their website, use their memory selector tool, and buy more memory. Memory couldn't be easier to install.
Didn't your PC come with some sort of restore disk? It should also be fairly simple to restore using that (make sure you back up any data you want to keep).
You'll also want to learn a bit about keeping your computer up to date and avoiding viruses/spyware or else you'll find yourself right back in the same situation time and time again.
1) Windows update 2) Go ahead and use NCSU's antivirus software or Mac/linux

Going to best buy for either of those things is idiotic.
Do what ^^ said.
Also, if you have the CD's that came with you it'll take you a few hours on your own to reinstall windows. Seriously you don't anything besides hit next a bunch of times.
Putting memory in is basically impossible as long as you have the right type--it doesn't go in backwards and will only fit in one place. Not to mention best buy is stupid expensive usually 4/7/2008 1:45:55 PM |

I mean if you do a good job I'll work it out for ya
Serial, I don't know THAT much about computers which is why I'm asking you guys!
Thanks for the input so far.
I have a POS E-Machine...she's a few years old, so I probably just need a new one. Would it be easier to buy a portable hard drive to back stuff up on? It takes forever when I try to save it to a DVD or whatever. I'm worried about my music mainly! All my important files are on one of my flash drives.
Thoughts? 4/7/2008 2:54:02 PM |

Update your wireless card driver?
Possibly bad wireless card / router. Are there any other computers on the wireless? 5/24/2008 7:27:00 AM |
