I am running an exchange 2003 server on a business-class dsl line adsl-074-xxx-xxx-xxx.sip.ilm.bellsouth.net

it seems some spam blockers check for adsl and spam it if it doesn't come from the isp's mail relay because we're sending from a domain that doesn't rdns to our adsl/isp. we have domains that we send from with a TXT record allowing our IP (that has helped some), but don't know what else to do.

TXT record on blah.com and blah2.com we send from:

v=spf1 a mx ptr mx:smtp.blah.com ip4:74.xxx.xxx.xxx ptr:blah.com ptr:blah2.com ptr: -all

Get bellsouth to set reverse dns on your IP to something you want, such as mail.oneofyourdomains.com and make sure that name resolves to the IP.

does it matter what it resolves to as long as it's just not the adsl crap?

i.e. whatever.blah.com

sent in rdns request today and should be done tuesday at the latest. thanks!

this should solve our aol/bellsouth problems when sending emails out to them.
