Why won't it work??? broke out some totally old school wrestlemania though....amazing how far it's come
but why wont my duck hunt work even if i put it two inches from the screen to shoot the duck? It registers the shot and makes the noise and flashes the screen, but all I hear is the quack quack quack, hehehehe 4/13/2008 11:16:39 PM |

there's probably too long of a delay between the trigger pull and the flash. i could be wrong though.

Found this in a gaming forum.
Quote : | "The problem with the light gun on new TVs is not that is is plasma/LCD/DLP, its that the extra processing required for an HDTV upconversion eats up a fraction of a second, which causes the light gun not to see the target box on the TV when you pull the trigger. (The target box would appear later than the gun expected it to.) Most HDTVs have a game mode which bypass this extra processing, so you may still be fine.
The zapper is not a "gun" in the sense that it doesn't emit anything, it only records what is sees on the TV. It acts very much like a one pixel digital camera. (A black and white one.) Nothing has to bounce off of the screen, glass not required.
The super scope will not function on anything but a CRT display, however, as it relies on the scanning of the cathode ray in order to determine position on the screen. " |

haha
nowadays the controller does emit (wii controllers) an IR beam that reflects off that thing you put on top of your tv.
i bet the powerglove would work, although i doubt that thing would fit on many plasma/lcd tv's being as wide as they are. 4/13/2008 11:45:11 PM |

^no, actually the wiimote just detects the two IR signals emitted from either end of the sensor bar.
to the OP, I imagine if you put it into the 4:3 display mode it will work 4/13/2008 11:52:18 PM |

you're right. my bad.
however, i think i did read or heard from someone that you could use anything that emits IR such as a candle and the wiimote would still work, although probably not as well. 4/13/2008 11:59:16 PM |

For the Duck Hunt gun... what would happen if you just flashed a flashlight into the barrel of the gun every time you pulled the trigger? Would it register as a hit each time? 4/14/2008 3:02:46 PM |

^I thought everyone was aware of the way to cheat at duck hunt. If you just turned the brightness on your tv all the way up it would register as a hit every time. 4/14/2008 3:39:54 PM |
