Ok. I'm curious how many of you have taken a community college class elsewhere? I'm trying to get my English 2** out of the way, but I'm having a hard time finding a place with online classes that won't be to hard and will transfer. Wake Tech is booked. Any other ideas?

which one is English 2? Is that Literature?
Take Bateman. If you show up to class, have a great memory and take good notes, You'll get an A. He doesn't require papers, just four tests. It's wonderful if you don't mind doing the above.

If you are going to be transferring the course in, the grade won't affect your gpa here. You could get a C in the class at a community college and still graduate with a 4.0. However, if you have a 4.0, I don't see how you could not get an A in a summer school community college class.

I'm taking a 2** English class online through Beaufort Community College this summer. Wake Tech's classes fill up QUICK, and no priority is given to special students. Registration was last week for Beaufort, so you may have missed out. But it couldn't hurt to call and ask.

I went to CPCC for a year-- it was pretty simple to get signed up (online registration) I can still sign up for classes now if I wanted to because once you have your student ID its good for all semesters.

I've taken a bunch of classes at Durham Tech (finished my AA degree there last year, in fact). They currently have a ENG 223--Major American Writers class available online. I took one of my required 100-level English classes through distance ed and it wasn't bad at all.

I transfered way back when from community, nice to get all those english and math requirements out of the way (or some of them, especially math, they only went up way back in the day to Pre Cal Trig!). When I transfered I took Accounting 1 and 2 at community, yes, it was easier.

Another good thing, once you are at State if you take classes at community, all you need to do is make a C, it transfers as a S anyways.

For those of you who go to CPCC is there a reason why most of the English's don't fill up but all the other humanities do?

because DE classes cost like $300 more than regular courses...i'm assuming the reason the OP wanted to take it at a CC was because it would be cheaper and he probably doesn't like english so he just wants the credit, not the GPA points.

Just finished up my online American Lit class at Beaufort CC. If you can pass high school English, you can ace this course. I would highly recommend it if you want an easy way to take care of your 200 level English requirement here at State.

During the summer, DE classes are cheaper per hour than seated classes.

CC classes are $129. No way State beats that.

I was going to suggest that you just CLEP it, but evidently, NCSU doesn't allow any composition and literature credit. Maybe it's for the best.

http://www7.acs.ncsu.edu/uga/CLEP.html

I did find this, though:

ENG243, Major British Writers, Halifax Community College, last day to register: 08/14/2008

http://vlc.nccommunitycolleges.edu/students/folderresults.asp?pn=22&so=1&sd=ASC

http://www.halifaxcc.edu/

Maybe this will help.

^what?

I was just following up to let people know CPCC was a great experience, and Wake Tech wasn't.

I don't need any english credit anymore, I got it.
