yea i ate on the border once and was not impressed. i guess the guacamole live is ok. but tres $$$ for some guac.
i prefer el rodeo veggie combo #2: bean tostada (which is topped with lettuce, cheese, tomato, and guac), cheese enchilada, rice. and cheese dip obvi.
(i'm sure its totally healthy)
i still need to try fiesta mexicana. 4/17/2008 2:23:03 PM |

Cholesterol is not the only reason hog brains are unhealthy--in fact, it's probably best to stay away from eating brains of any kind anymore:
Minn. Slaughterhouse Workers Fall Ill 11 Minnesota Slaughterhouse Workers Fall Ill; Pig-Brain Removal Technique Is Suspected
Quote : | "On the slaughterhouse floor at Quality Pork Processors Inc. is an area known as the 'head table,' but not because it is the place of honor. It is where workers cut up pigs' heads and then shoot compressed air into the skulls until the brains come spilling out.
But now the grisly practice has come under suspicion from health authorities.
Over eight months from last December through July, 11 workers at the plant all of them employed at the head table developed numbness, tingling or other neurological symptoms, and some scientists suspect inhaled airborne brain matter may have somehow triggered the illnesses.
The use of compressed air to remove pig brains was suspended at Quality Pork earlier this week while authorities try to get to the bottom of the mystery.
'I'm still in shock, I guess,' said 37-year-old Susan Kruse, who worked at the plant for 15 years until she got too weak to do her job last February. 'But it was very surprising to hear that there was that many other people that have gotten this.'
Five of the workers including Kruse, who has been told she may never work again have been diagnosed with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, or CIDP, a rare immune disorder that attacks the nerves and produces tingling, numbness and weakness in the arms and legs, sometimes causing lasting damage." |

When my grandparents lived in Africa, they used ALL the parts of any slaughter. Typically, pig brains were put into sausage.
For special occasions, my grandfather cooks sausage in a pan, and then does eggs on that, so you have sausage in the eggs.
One Christmas, he decided to skip the sausage step, and go straight to brains-and-eggs. They were VERY well received, until my aunt Sallie kept going 'Daddy...what did you do differently? These are SO. GOOD!' and he'd say 'Just eat, and quit talking with your mouth full'. She badgered him enough that he finally told her, and she turned kind of green (she wasn't completely un-americanized, as they came to the states every four years for a full year)]4/17/2008 3:12:44 PM |

the only way to get sick from pig brains is to inhale them... the workers weren't eating the brains
the process that the plants use to remove the brains involves blasting water through the skull cavity which then caused particles of the brain to mix in with the water vapor and was then inhaled
eating them is not harmful although gross 4/17/2008 7:12:40 PM |
