Anyone done this before?
A pretty good friend of mine is contemplating doing that for medical reasons and the dean at his school isn't exactly hot on the idea . 4/17/2008 7:08:15 PM |

A dean that cares what the students do? That's unheard of. 4/17/2008 11:45:15 PM |

yeah, the guy is pretty fucked up mental wise, had a 2.6 first and prolly 1.5 this semster, the dean's point was that his first semster grades were too "good" to be dropped completely.....hahaha, i m not sure but 2.6 is kind of bad? maybe 4/18/2008 12:08:56 AM |

haha, are you serious?
just tell them you had financial issues, relationship issues, anxiety due to high worload (works well as a freshman), and if you have medical records showing you had issues then site medical reasons & it will be withdrawn w/o issue, just will take a little paperwork
if you need to do it another semester, just rinse & repeat

you need to find out what's actually going on before posting on here though, as if you w/draw a semester, its just one semester, not a full year

I contemplated withdrawing one semester after I got thrown out of a vehicle when a 16 year old hit my friends car before the Fall semester. I was a dumbass and was sitting in the back cargo compartment because the car was full.
CC was going to let me drop the whole semester because I was having 4-5 doctors apointments per week but they ended up letting me choose 2-3 classes to drop and still stay at FT status. Ringer was, they wouldnt let you drop classes you were failing (which I wasnt) so I dropped the two that I was making D's in and was set for the semester.
Oh yea, that 16 year old will prob never get insurance after my settlement 4/18/2008 12:30:30 PM |

With any valid medical evidence this should be simple. I've known three people who have obtained a semester withdraw. One actually had a serious lung issue requiring major surgery, the other couldn't fall asleep normally even with pills, the other got diagnosed as an "alcoholic".
Sounds like your friend tried to talk to the dean first about it, which is always a bad mistake. You get all the supporting paperwork done first, at that point he/she usually signs because they have so much shit to do that they don't go investigating. 4/19/2008 6:04:13 AM |

Exactly - I explained my medical situation to two of my professors with the form for them to sign to let me drop their class without penalty. I then handed them a folder full of doctors notes and a note from the student CC and they didnt care to look through it at all.
I know when I withdrew two classes w/o penalty they showed up on my transcript. Not that it matters but does a withdrawn semester who up?4/19/2008 10:51:55 AM |
