Sorry if there were threads about this recently, the search engine was having an internal error or something.
I'm hard up for a job these days (finished school last semester). I have a liberal arts degree, and you can do anything and nothing with that as everyone knows. I worked for a financial services firm for several years but that didn't materialize into a full time opportunity, and I really don't want to become a stock broker/commission-based financial rep or work in a bank. And no, I don't have my life plan figured out. I wish I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I just know I have knowledge of business and economics, handled asset transfers, I've done some rudimentary database management, lots of random skills but no credentials beyond the projects I've put on my resume.
Anyway I'm looking for a temp agency around here that can hopefully place me at a reputable company at least, even if it's filing or something. I'd like to avoid manual labor or burger flipping. A quick google searched revealed a page such as this: http://articles.directorym.com/Staffing_Top_5_Agencies_Raleigh_NC-r800183-Raleigh_NC.html which mentions Manpower etc.
Anyone have any advice or experience with these agencies, especially in the Raleigh area? 4/19/2008 6:27:51 PM |

I only know temp agencies geared towards more technical related jobs. I'm not sure if that's the only type of job they staff, but you could probably try them out in case. There's Volt and Belcan. Belcan gives better benefits most times, fwiw.

they wont work with you if you have a charge pending in court. i applied at about 6 when i got back to greensboro.... as soon as a judge threw out the BS charges on me from NCSU my phone was blowing up from all the temp places i filled out, but i had a job by then
so dont waste your time if you have something pending.
express actually hired me for like 16 at lincoln financial, then fired me about 2 hours later ] 4/19/2008 9:06:39 PM |

the best thing about temping is the 2-day jobs, its the best 2 days of any job, the first and last ones.
sometimes you'll get good jobs like easy clerical stuff other times really sucky ones, it just depends. if you really need cash, labor ready is pretty good. the pay can be over $10 an hr, and you get a check at the end of the day. but the jobs are hot, hard and labor intensive. 4/20/2008 8:39:46 AM |

I don't have shit pending. I've been dicked around by a lot of companies and recruiters and now I need some loot. I can definately see the first and last day being the best though... but hopefully I can find something that isn't physical labor etc 4/20/2008 10:39:57 AM |

These are state of NC temp jobs. Temporary Solutions is really great and will help you find a good place to work at. I've been at the NC Arts Council for the past 3 months, and it's been pretty good, though it ends at the end of the month. But they are really good about finding you assignments and will try to place you were your qualifications are best. However, it probably will take a little bit of time to get a job, especially if you make a special request on a certain temp job you are looking for. 4/20/2008 10:47:14 AM |

I've been a Belcan employee for the last year until I recently got hired full-time at place I was temping at.
I dont really have anything bad to say. They always treated me really well and the paycheck was always on time. 4/20/2008 5:24:46 PM |

Manpower's pretty good but not the cheapest. They have temps for a wide range of fields, some technical if I'm not mistaken 4/24/2008 9:48:16 AM |
