Ireland is OK but not great. With the exchange rate and the crazy inflation here it makes it pretty hard to have fun. A case of beer shouldn't cost 45 USD.

there is a long tradition of eloping to sc because nc used to have a waiting period to get married, but not any more. I don't know about now, but sc used to be a common law state and if you went down there and spent the night as man and wife you were legally married.

The way I understand it is you both need to show up at the probate judge to apply. You can pick up the license in 24 hours. But then you have to have a ceremony officiated by clergy rabbi or official. Do they sign it and you have to provide a copy to the court or is it a done deal from there? Is the marriage official after picking up the license in the eyes of the law?

nothing is official until the ceremony. The license is basically saying that you can get married and the one officiating the ceremony has to sign the license and all and you have to have 2 witnesses.

So after the license is signed do you resubmit it to the state?
