So a friend of mine bought a motor that had "ignition issues due to wiring harness". He popped the valve cover and found this

If it ran, do you think marvel mystery can clean this gunk. Or is he gonna have to take everything apart and hot tank this motor.

I don't doubt that it'll run. I'd be worried about clogging an oil galley up though if he does anything to loosen that shit up.

At the very least it'd be asking to clog the oil pump pickup screen

Drain the remaining oil
Fill it up to the oil filler cap with diesel fuel
Let it sit for 2 days
Drain diesel fuel/sludge mix
Do 2 oil changes with 5-10 mins idling in between, then drive for a day and so another oil change
$profit

The KA would have a mount for the upper timing chain guide closer to the timing chain, and the intake mani looks a lot different.

My guess would have gone to an SR, but I'm too late to guess

it definately wasnt any type of RWD engine..

unless you like your throttle body or timing chain assembly smushed against the firewall

So is that the result of insufficient/nonexistent oil changes, or something else at work?

Oh come on guys. You know that slowblack96 is right. I mean, 10,000km is 6,213.71192 miles, and 15,000km is 9,320.56788 miles. Obviously driving a car between those said mileages is wrong and will likely cause muffler bearings or other shit to go bad. I mean come on..... For cereal and pop tarts, that's why we should ALWAYS change our oil at EXACTLY 3,000 miles! (or 4,828.032 km for you Canadian fuckers )

*sigh* that was funny to me.

since when did the trailer park trash of America convert to the metric system...
i'll be damned if i go to jiffy lube to get a couple liters of oil instead of quarts

I'd be inclined to un-buy that engine pretty quick.
