I can't get the University to answer the phone, so here's hoping that someone knows the solution to this problem.

Here's the error email I'm getting (my mom is paying it online):
"An eCheck payment in the amount of $873.00 made on 05/04/2007 was rejected on 04/29/2008 due to <No Account/Unable to Locate>.

The original confirmation number is ###### (<-- I don't know if that number is useful or not, but I took it out anyways).

Regards,

QuikPAY Online Services"

It does this EVERY semester and they have yet to be able to help me fix it.

don't know about eChecks, but the university did make some payment policy changes last year. I believe one of them is to no longer accept VISA payments, but I'm not sure if that is still in effect.

^^ it is and that's stupid of them

^ I just got off the phone with them finally and apparently when they "upgraded" their system overnight it sent out all the errors that have happened in the last year or two via email to every user who has had an issue... apparently they're going to have an AWESOME Tuesday in that office...

I have this problem every single time I pay with eCheck since last spring. It takes 5-7 days after I pay to get the error message (unable to locate / no account) and I end up having to bring my check down to Harris Hall in person. I don't know what the problem is, but clearly the system doesn't work for some banks perhaps? I use Wachovia.

^ I have Wachovia and it works fine.

The only time I've ever gotten that error message is when I typed my bank account # wrong on accident.

I can see both sides of the VISA issue.

I mean it is gay that you can't pay with VISA, hell even Wake Tech takes VISA.

On the other hand that 3% processing fee that VISA keeps out of all transactions probably amounts to a shit ton of money that the school would never see. I mean on a $1200.00 tuition bill thats $36.00, times that by however many gazillion students would pay with VISA and its a lot of money.

^^^ me too... they told me today the system basically blows: it doesn't like money market accounts, home equity accounts, etc. and that there's really nothing they can do about it until the University ditches the system

I think the VISA thing is a joke. It's a common agreement that the business provider cannot pass the fee along to the consumer and university's aren't exempt... some how they're getting away with doing so with the others they accept. They throw away enough money in other areas, they could afford to take VISA to allow students who are pressed to pay in that manner if they so choose. Not to mention, I'm sure as a public university they should have been able to negotiate a lower rate with VISA but someone just got a stick up their butt about it and the only people who really pay for it are the students and their parents.

About the VISA thing, they tried for year to get VISA to agree to a deal. In fact until they stopped accepting VISA the university was technically breaking their service agreement, by charging a processing fee. It was explained to me, by directors in the Cashiers Offices, that it would end up costing the university ($1000's) and students ($100's) more to use VISA then to not accept it. So take it with how ever many grains of salt you would like.

Yeah I got that speach also while I was working with ncsu. Bascially they don't let you pass fee's to VISA cardholders, so basically ncsu was going to have to give 2-3 full rides for every 100 people that used VISA.

They know they can make anyone pay via cash if they want to remain enrolled.
