Problem with parents 02 Lexus es

Doesn't happen all the time..maybe once a month. especially if you start the engine, stop it soon and try to start it again...it makes the crancking noise but wont start.

If you give it a little gas while you crank it, it starts...everytime.

Help.

Well when you flood an engine you want to counter intuitively floor it while starting to let more air in.

what? be clear: cranking only means spin over. starting means running. if it wont spin over at all when you turn the ignition switch unless you press the gas pedal then it would help to know that.
