so
i am an asshole, and thanks to the magic of computers and drop down menus, etc, I accidentally booked a hotel for the day AFTER I actually need it. it was also booked online, so there was a non-changable/non-refundable policy attached.
realizing that there is a 95% chance I am eating this hotel cost,
has anyone had any success with getting this remedied other than by brute force calling the reservations center and working your way up the obnoxious supervisor chain?
i have the contact info of the actual physical billing dept for the physical hotel, so im emailing them, but just looking for other tactics I might be able to use
im dumb, just to get that out of the way. 5/1/2008 5:35:46 PM |

try calling the hotel directly, talk to a manager. 5/1/2008 5:38:11 PM |

I'd call the hotel and hope that you get in touch with a nice receptionist. You can try to chalk it up to an error on the part of the system and ask them to please help you out. 5/1/2008 5:39:27 PM |

I did this one time with an airline ticket. Bigtime mistake especially since I read through the preview page before the payment went through. I had to eat the cost but took it on the chin because of my own stupidity. 5/2/2008 11:51:17 AM |

If it makes you feel any better I booked a flight to Raleigh for the wrong weekend in October 2 years ago. That sucked. 5/2/2008 3:05:31 PM |

Nice, my boss was like, eh just expense it and try not to do it again.

Quote : | "Gilbert Jay Arenas Jr. (born January 6, 1982, in Tampa,[1] Florida[2]) is an American professional basketball player for the NBA's Washington Wizards. Arenas overcame his modest NBA debut, including being a second-round draft pick, to establish himself as one of the most dominant and clutch players in the NBA.
Gilbert wears number 0 because a high school coach once told him he would play 0 minutes in college at Arizona.
From the time of his entry into the league, Arenas's popularity soared. He transformed himself from being a relative unknown to being voted by fans as an All-Star starter for the Eastern Conference in 2007. Arenas overcame a 213,000 vote deficit at one point to edge out Vince Carter by just over 3,000 votes for the second of the two starting guard spots, the other spot going to Dwyane Wade.[3] Arenas was most often nicknamed "Agent Zero," but has increasingly been referred to as "Hibachi."[4] Both names have quickly become fan favorites in the Washington area." |

hotels are usually pretty liberal about their refund policies (far more than the airline industry), so I'd give them a call and see if they can help you out, especially since you just want to move the reservation a day forward. 5/3/2008 4:49:15 PM |

just call and speak to someone at the front desk of the hotel. If they say they can't adjust the hotel booking, ask to speak to a manager. When speaking to the manager, let them know that you are booking the hotel for a work related project and that your company would be likely to use their hotels again in the future.5/3/2008 5:02:11 PM |
