old fucker probably deserved it

ATTN OLD PEOPLE:
- get out of the far left lanes
- speed up
- be in the proper lane for exiting
- don't switch lanes unless completely necessary
- don't use busy/large highways and interstates
- Anything else you do that annoys me, well, don't do it anymore

so what's the point of taking the time to beat someone up

I thought the whole thing about road rage is that people want to get where they're going at a faster rate

Permanently strip her of her license. She won't have to think twice about controlling her road rage because she'll never be on the road again.

so then instead of having a really awful situation, we'd have a really awful situation in which someone was killed.

Uh, if someone was gonna intentionally pull in front of me only to hit the brakes, pull me out in traffic and beat me, yeah, my next action would not be "killing" when it comes before the judge.

no, because if some dumb cunt pulls this shit and tries to gank me out of my car and beat the shit out of me I can just save us both a lot of time and put a few in her

not to mention i'd be doing the world a service by cleaning up the gene pool a little

this may or may not be true. and yes it still would be killing. someone would be dead. it wouldn't be murder. and it may or may not be self defense. i'm not defending the girl, i'm just saying that i think if everyone had guns a lot more people would end up hurt or dead because of poor/rash decision making. just taking out a gun and firing--especially since it was in busy traffic apparently--could have some bad repercussions. and i mean, people do bad things....AWFUL things. like in this case, but that doesn't mean that the girl is necessarily awful. and even if she is, it doesn't mean she deserves to die. how can we judge that? i just don't think policing ourselves is necessarily the best idea. sounds good on paper i guess, but in practice i think it would cause more harm than good.

Because the robots do it so much better? There's only so much one can do to non-violently protect themselves, sometimes it is necessary to dispatch lethal force in dire situations.

This may have been murder, we don't know yet because the old woman hasn't gotten out of the hospital yet. A lot of elderly people die from surgery complications, which may very well be what happens here. Most likely she'll now be confined in the prison of a nursing home until she dies.

right and i get that the woman may die, i'm not an idiot. i was just saying that policing ourselves probably isn't the best solution to violence...it just seems like it will cause more violence. and i was saying in any given situation, when using a gun for "self defense" it may not always be "self defense" in a court. i just don't think people realize that sometimes.

i bet you're one of those misguided people who believe that the police are there to protect you personally and that it's ok if someone who is >2x stronger assaults someone weaker.

shame shame. either that or you haven't given much thought to your argument.

if that person who was assaulted died b/c of the attack, that would be ok with you?

also are you aware of the amount of training necessary to carry a concealed weapon on your person in the state of north carolina? lets say you do have to draw your weapon and use it in 'self-defense', the courts will most likely be harsher on you than someone who is able to pick up a (insert random object here) and kill their attacker.

Book cover

The author here states that in most cases people are charged with homicide in self-defense killings until they are found innocent by a jury. Also stating that if a non-violent means can be used to solve a conflict (a throw down stash for robberies), it should be used as self-defense killings are generally looked upon unfavorably by society and can have serious repercussions in life.

I personally believe that the decision making involved in self-defense are usually fight or flight; fight being premeditated and "rash" and flight being a fast or hazy judgment.

obviously i would feel bad if that woman died. and i don't think i'm that "misguided" or that my argument is thoughtless. just because i disagree with you doesn't mean that i'm not educated or haven't thought through my position on the issue.

^ NOT true. its all so fact sensitive.

and i agree, shoot her in the knee, whatever, but my point is when you are in the heat of the moment you probably aren't going to sit and calculate your moves rationally. that is why i said what i did in my first post. to ME it just seems that it might make society more dangerous. i realize people disagree and again i'm not an idiot. i don't sit around all day thinking that the police are here to protect me and that we live in a flawless society where everything works perfectly. it was just an opinion.

I don't mean that you haven't thought your position through or that you are misguided. I just believe you haven't thought through what you would do if you were being chased by someone trying to kill you.

You can call me paranoid.

^ no i no, my post was more in reference to the person that posted above you, not to you directly. i realize that if i was fearing for my life, i would probably wish i had a gun. i just don't want to start making exceptions. like...no we shouldn't have guns UNLESS i'm being chased, then its ok.

but you think it's ok that she not be able to protect herself based on your belief that self-policing is a bad idea.

i mean would an 81 year old woman really be in the demographic that would be carrying concealed weapons anyway? it is just sort of a freak accident. its not like she's working in a convenience store where it would be more probable that she would use a gun.

dude...i'm sitting here studying for my criminal law final, i've thought it through. two people can differ in their opinons and both have good reasoning. i understand your side, too...i get it.

if you shoot somebody it should be shoot to kill, not shoot to injure

if you shoot her in the knee then you are proving to yourself and to the jury that you didnt need to use deadly force to stop her. you just wanted to injure her. you dont point a gun at a target that you dont intend to kill and you sure as hell dont pull the trigger to injure someone.

once again: a crime that deserves the death penalty. if you are going to beat an 81 year old woman to death for "driving too slowly," then you clearly do not deserve to live.
