CAN OUR COUNTRY GET ANY DUMBER?!

Quote :
"Fla. Teacher Accused Of Wizardry

Man Made Toothpick Vanish In Class

LAND 'O LAKES, Fla. -- A substitute teacher in Pasco County has lost his job after being accused of wizardry.

Teacher Jim Piculas does a magic trick where a toothpick disappears and then reappears.

Piculas recently did the 30-second trick in front of a classroom at Rushe Middle School in Land 'O Lakes.

Piculas said he then got a call from the supervisor of teachers, saying he'd been accused of wizardry.

"I get a call the middle of the day from head of supervisor of substitute teachers. He says, 'Jim, we have a huge issue, you can't take any more assignments you need to come in right away,'" he said.

Piculas said he did not know of any other accusations that would have led to the action.

The teacher said he is concerned that the incident may prevent him from getting future jobs.

Watch Local 6 News for more on this story."

It's florida. I take Dr. Myers' approach almost seriously:

Quote :
"I'm calling Poe's Law on the whole state of Florida. That place is entirely made up, isn't it? I've been to Miami several times, but now I'm beginning to suspect that it's actually a giant theme park set up on one of the Caribbean islands. It's not really there.

I should have been clued in by the amusingly penile shape of the state drooping off our southern shores. That's made-up, isn't it? Right from the geography, it's got to be one big joke a bunch of 16th century Spaniards were pulling on the whole rest of the world.

Well, the joke is over. It's finally gone too far. No one could possibly be as loony as these fictitious (I'm sure) school administrators. Can we get around to correcting the maps and pulling those phony senators and representatives out of the federal government now?"

Any relation to Harry Potter?

Florida is getting seriously weird-o with all this fantasy stuff. They're going through a heated battle with EVOLUTION vs. INTELLIGENT DESIGN.

Sub teacher claims fired for 'wizardry'

Quote :
"However, Assistant Superintendent Renalia DuBose denied the district ever used the word 'wizardry' in its dealings with Piculas and said the magic trick was far down the list of reasons the sub is not being asked back.

The district said in a letter to Piculas that he was being let go because he did not follow lesson plans, allowed students to use computers despite being told not to by another teacher, and he left a student in charge during his fifth-period class."

"Wizardry" is "far down the list of reasons the sub is not being asked back"--but something akin to it is apparently on the list!

So let me get this straight...

The wizardry was serious enough to warrant firing him, but not serious enough to make the school afraid to fire him?

OH SHIT SON

HE CAN MAKE TOOTHPICKS DISAPPEAR

Clearly the problem wasn't the wizardry itself, but rather him using it in the presence of muggles.

another question is

by middle school, who actually didn't know how this trick was done?

(it's usually done with a matchstick)

look how he's holding it -- is that natural? no

he's got a tiny bit of magician's wax (orthodontic or ear-plug wax works,) on his thumb nail

the toothpick is just hidden by his thumb

duh?

can't believe people believe in one-sided stories.

he wasn't fire because of the the magic trick.

he was being fired because he wasn't doing his job.

I am really betting that the Principle said:

Jim you've been . . . . and then this bit of "wizardry" with the toothpick is the last straw. How does that have anything to do with (insert subject, hopefully not science)??

Principles do some crazy stuff but I don't think that crazy.

^^^ Um. . .it's principal, professor(!)--not "Principle" (sic). In addition, there's no need to capitalize the word at issue in the context of your post.
