Where can one of these be purchased? Best Buy, Radio Shack, Brookstone, and Wal-Mart all had nothing.

I'm going to be testing some international electrical equipment (which uses the above power specifications) and will be using the radio to listen if any distortion occurs when I perturb the power signal until the device blows up. We're wanting to avoid using some sort of a travel adapter that has any built-in transformer.

I was told that I needed to purchase it locally since the tests will be done tonight. My budget is up to $500, so it doesn't have to be a tiny alarm clock but obviously the cheaper it is, the better.

you're probably going to have to buy it from a person or buy a specialty thing from a travel store like globe trotter or sharper image. any clock or radio is going to have a transformer to step down 110/120/220/240V AC to ~12v DC in this day and age and 50hz is euro spec.

why dont you just pull a signal to an oscilloscope and just watch it

Yea, I realize that the device will have a transformer in it to step it down from AC to DC, but we're trying to avoid having a travel adapter transformer in the middle also. I've never heard of Globe Trotter, so I'll check there. Thanks.

^ It'll be hooked up to all kinds of scopes and PQ analyzers also.
