Show them your student ID, if you still have one (scratch off exp date if expired).
[Edited on May 14, 2008 at 11:26 PM. Reason : strike the last part, you are still a student, if you are going to carmicheal] 5/14/2008 11:24:36 PM |

work there.......you get a free membership (but very very little in pay). you may want to see if they have any openings where you can spend a couple of hours a week scanning cards at the front desk

DUDE, that's dirt cheap. They will probably waive the sign up fee, too.
[Edited on May 14, 2008 at 11:34 PM. Reason : 29 being the monthly and this is at cary family y]5/14/2008 11:33:26 PM |

that's actaully not too bad if they'd waive the joining fee5/14/2008 11:36:45 PM |

one possibility is that if your parents are family members at a different ymca (anywhere not just another one in the triangle ymca system) you can most likely get that ymca to write a letter saying that you are currently a member of their ymca and that you are transferring your membership. that way you can get the initial joining fee ived. that's what the cary ymca did for me when i moved to atlanta....but i have to say, they were somewhat cutting me a break since i technically wasnt the official member, but my family have been members of the cary ymca since they opened and they know us well

If you join the YMCA on Hillsborough Street, you get a Triangle wide membership to go with it, until they finish construction on the pool and the rest of the expansion. So you can use any Y in the Triangle until the end of the year, and when the building is finished you can choose to keep your membership at the Hillsborough location, or transfer it to any of the other Triangle ones.
They'll also break up the joining fee into four installments if you want. 5/15/2008 12:59:09 AM |
