okay, so the dirt bike thing isn't quite working out...because i live so close to work, i REALLY want to get something fairly cheap that beats my current fuel mileage (30-35mpg, depending)...plus, parking is $25/month, and scooters can park for free, so i have that added bonus

anywho, i don't really care about the DUI stigma, so what should i start looking for in a scooter? mileage is key, top speed really isn't that important (though i suppose 40-45mph is the fastest i'll be able to go on these roads)...are scooters street-legal in raleigh? what size engine (i think the options are around 50/100/150cc, right?) what brands are good to look at? what about this place on hillsborough st (i would assume i could probably buy online for cheaper, but local is fine)

also, do scooters capable of running e85 exist and are they affordable? or is it something easily modified?

Scooters rule the world down in the Caribbean. I got pulled for jumping speed bumps on one.

They're pretty popular in south Florida as well. No DWI stigma at all. I'd rather have a dual sport, but scooters have their place I suppose.

i love when ppl try to justify owning a scooter.

it's ok man to tell everyone that u just got a DUI, that's a good enough reason, no shame in that.

^^ I have taken the Ruckus offroading and jumping speed bumps. It is a quality ride. My friend (its its primary mode of transport) even road it from Pembroke to UNCW on the interstate!

[uer]tripleD4u[/user] just hooked me up this past weekend. i had to bust out some leftower vynil tape and stickers.

defenitely holler at him

scoot is pretty quick for an unrestricted, but stock piece. in town i generally outpace the traffic. greater raleigh would be slightly different i suppose, but a scoot will always put a smile on your face.

It's fun, but it looks hella fruity. Most of the ones you'll see around here are the Metropolitan II which is a de-tuned Metropolitan. You can remove the restricter plate on the intake and do a couple of other things for free to make it faster though. There are tons of mods out there for it.

I've got one in pieces out in my workshop. It's going to be a pain to get back together because I have had to move since I disassembled it and the parts are scattered everywhere.
