Come out June 7th for the Championship then. It's going to be freakin' nuts. The teams are really, really close this year, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if that bout doesn't come down to the last couple of jams. Practices have been a bloodbath the last few weeks 5/18/2008 6:00:17 PM |

mdbncsu - Thanks, I'll take you up on that. A bunch of these ladies are NCSU alums or work here.
vinyl - that photo was one from the interleague season (where everybody wore the same stuff) It's different when our own teams play each other. Sorry for the confusion.
Man, it was a hell of a bout. The Truama Queens were down 3 of their better players, so I was expecting something of a blowout. They were getting their asses handed to them to begin with (it was 41-15 at one point in the first half), but made some adjustments and pulled it to within 12 at the half. The second half was probably the most intense we've seen this year, as the TQ's pulled within 2-3 several times but couldn't get over the hump. Billy the Kid (Deb Brawler) absolutely owned the track as she picked up lead jammer at least 5 times in the second half. Roxy Rockett had a great game as a pivot and blocker, and Zella Lugosi (TQ's) was on a straight-up mission of pain as both a blocker and a jammer. She laid a vicious hit that sent this one chick flying into the crowd. I honestly think Zella gets better everytime she has another kid (3 kids )
Both teams will be playing the championship on June 7th, and both teams should be back to full strength by then. Lucy Lastkiss, Miss Anthrope, and Trudy Struction were all out for the Queens, and I think that'll be the gamechanger. Miss A is one of their best overall players, Lucy is probably their hardest hitter, and Trudy causes chaos wherever she's at. The Debs will get back Pink Slip and a couple of newer players, and PS has been coming on strong in recent practices. I can't wait till this damn game gets here!
The Championship game on June 7th will be the last home game until September, so come on out and get your derby fix now.
