This is my first time posting in lounge (I'm looking for a serious answer). I was just wondering which credit card company would be the best for a college student during college. Right now, I've got a student debit card through Wachovia and I've only missed one bill payment for electricity (long, pointless story). I don't plan on using it for anything except emergencies (like the one I'm in now).
For the tl;dr crowd: Which Credit Card company/service would you recommend and why? 5/26/2008 2:22:24 PM |

Starbucks Duetto Visa Credit Card through Chase.
1% rewards turn into starbucks dollars. Because college students need their coffee. 5/26/2008 3:40:21 PM |

what types of purchases are you going to be using it for (bills, groceries, entertainment) and do you pay your balance in full each month? 5/26/2008 3:55:58 PM |

I'll be using it for emergencies only. I'm not really looking to use it for everyday things. 5/26/2008 4:13:59 PM |

Do you have access to SECU?
I'd recommend the SECU card simply because they're not quite as interested in raping their members as regular CC companies are in raping their customers. 5/26/2008 4:14:11 PM |

If you're only using it for emergencies I would focus on cards that offer low interest rates and no annual fees. You don't really need a card that offers rewards like cash back since you won't be doing everyday purchases on it.
