through all the speeding ticket threads I never found the actual answer to this question.

to use a PFJ do I need to get a lawyer? Has anyone ever successfully used one just going to court themselves? And if so, can you discuss that with the DA or do you have to appear before the judge to use it?

i don't know the particular answer to your question... but as i understand it, since January? of this year you can no longer get a DA to get you out of a speeding ticket... apparently everybody has to go to court.

I've heard its a bad idea to use your PFJ, I'd try to avoid it if possible.

that doesn't make much sense. you always had to go to court to talk to an [assistant] da to get reductions/dismissals. now i do remember them making a change where it was harder to have certain tickets reduced, but if im remembering correctly it was only the really bad ones like going 30+ over.

you can do it yourself. i would do it on ticket #2 and then drive safely. there is no point on using it for #1 unless it was a reckless driving ticket. any ticket in the next 3 years will bring back the pfj ticket and any other "hidden" tickets.
