Will not work. The instant I run it, I get a message saying "DOOM 3 has stopped working."

Google yields nothing. Compatibility mode for WinXP SP2 does nothing.

I did have to download it from 3DGamers, since you cannot download it from the Doom 3 website (it simply says you do not have privlidges to download it).

Any ideas?

My only idea is to pray and to update all your drivers. If it doesn't work it doesn't work. :/

Can someone tell me what the animation is on this page?:

http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/AboutGFW/Pages/DirectX10.aspx

I just get a red-X. Flash and Shockwave are installed and I can't figure out what the fuck the problem is.

I don't see any animations. No flash, shockwave, or java. The 3 major things on the page are just images with links to download DirectX.

i was a vista hater for a long time...since sp1, though, the x64 ultimate edition has been great (though i'm running 4gb of ram, 60% of which is being used almost all the time...that said, i've never seen it go higher than 78% of usage)

it wouldn't surprise me if all the other vista versions suck donkey balls...m$ likes to take an arguably decent product at $vermont and then retard it to sell at $rhodeisland

It's MS. Might want to check your S key and make sure it didn't get switched with the 4 key

If I do that, I can't use this nifty 1GB of Intel Robson RAM.

I did do a factory reset and deselected all the preload software so as to get purely Vista. I then disabled the utterly useless Aero and went back to classic view.

SP1, newest drivers.

This thing now runs like a freakin champ. Perhaps Vista's not so bad.

I still can't run Doom 3 demo though.

Well, it appears that the Doom 3 demo cannot and will not run in Vista under any circumstance.

There is a patch for the full game, which I do not own. Allegedly it works. Can anyone confirm that the full game works in Vista once the patch is applied?

^^ Yeah I don't think it's a bad OS at its core. It's got to be frustrating for the people who programmed the kernal to see what is ultimately a good piece of software fucked over by layers that were added on by other groups at microsoft and OEM's making their work look far worse than it is. Vista without Aero, the sidebar, and a few "features" isn't that bad.

actually, as "Microsoft" is not spelled with a capitalized "S" in the name, nor is it a multi-word name, "MS" is not a (technically) appropriate acronym...so if i want to call it m$, i'm no more or less correct than using "ms"...good try, though...when you finally slide off microsoft's dick, you're welcome to come suck mine

Yeah i ran Doom 3 and the expansion on Vista ultimate 64 bit. No issues. I don't think i even had to patch it, but i don't remember.
