we did get to see a swarming demonstration though. being 5 inches away from about 5000 swarming bees is very cool.

One time in high school, I was sitting outside drinking a snapple not paying enough attention to my drink. A honeybee flew into the can and when I took a sip, it went in my mouth. It didn't sting me until I tried to spit it out and it got me on my tongue...that sucked.

There was a girl when I was younger who left a can of soda unattended outside, then came back to take a big gulp. A couple of yellow-jackets ended up stinging the inside of her throat and she had to be rushed to the hospital due to the swelling.

I ran over a yellow jacket nest while mowing the lawn one time. Got stung at least 6-7 times.

I got some gasoline and torched the nest that night though.

I had a pretty bad fear of bees until I took bees and beekeeping. Now I only have a slight fear of bees. Still hate wasps/yellow jackets though. I always feel like their going to sting me just out of meanness.

I got stung by a bee guarding that bee's nest down by one of the intramural fields near Carmichael. Stung me in the back of my right leg as I was walking up the hill, which led to me nearly falling on my ass, haha. I just flicked it off and kept walking up the hill, but that thing burned like a mofo for a while. Like four days after that they had put up a few barricades, some caution tape, and a hand-written sign that read, simply, "BEES".

They cleared the nest out a little later.

What a story...

people seem to think being stung by a bee is some big ordeal... we got stung all the time as kids, we yelled then kept playing.

I got stung on the top of my hand like 5 years back, didnt think it was a big deal....




until like 15 minutes later when my hand looked like a blown up latex glove
